Return of Thursday Top Ten

I started this a few months back and fell off the wagon with it, but here's my Thursday Top Ten and it's not Thanksgiving themed!

The Top Ten Most Epic Songs of All Time.

As a wannabe fantasy novelist, I deal with the epic quite a bit. So, I thought about it and came up with this list of, what is my opinion, the top ten greatest "epic" songs of all time.

10. Tribute by Tenacious D
A face off with the devil? It's gotta be epic!

9. Layla by Eric Clapton
One of my favorite all time faves and makes almost every list. It's an epic story of love and desire as old as time itself.

8. Paradise by the Dashboard Light by Meatloaf
An epic of being a horny teenager....weren't we all?

7. One by Metallica
The epic tale of war and recovery....

6. Tonight, Tonight-Smashing Pumpkins
In tone alone this counts as epic, plus the video certainly adds to the mystique of the song.

5. Bohemian Rhapsody-Queen
The very definition of a musical epic in four parts.

4. Comfortably Numb-Pink Floyd
An epic tale of despair and drug use

3. All Along The Watchtower-Various artists\
An epic that's been told from three seperate perspectives, from Dylan's folksy epic to Hendrix's sonic epic to DMB's jam-band epic.

2. November Rain-GNR
The modern epic of rock and roll

1. Stairway to Heaven-Led Zepplin
Again, in tone and theme, definitely epic, and nothing defines musical epicness more than Jimmy Page's guitar solo!
